Vietnam Highlights

Hanoi, Halong, Nha Trang, Saigon, Cuchi, Tay Ninh, Mekong delta

This tour is designed for those who are short o­n time but still want to maximize the highlights of Vietnam.


Day 1
Depart the USA

Day 2 - Hanoi
Arrive at Noi Ba airport, you will be met by your tour guide o­n the other side of Immigration/Baggage check. A brief orientation drive is given o­n the way to your hotel.
Enjoy a few hours of rest or explore the surroundings o­n your own.
Take a Cyclo ride through the Old Town before the welcome dinner, with your guide, this evening.

Day 3 - Hanoi
After breakfast, you will be met by your guide and driver & car for a full day of touring so good walking shoes are a must. You will have many choices to choose from:
- Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first University build in the 11th century
- Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and Presidential Palace
- Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House
- o­ne Pillar Pagoda
- Ethnology Museum
- Opera House
- Hoa Lo prison, which is also known as “Hanoi Hilton”
- West Lake & Pagoda
This evening, you will attend the famous Water Puppets show before dinner at Quan An Ngon Restaurant.

Day 4 - Hanoi - Halong Bay
This morning you will take the four hour car ride to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Halong Bay.
An old style Chinese junk cruise awaits your arrival and will set sail at noon today.
Lunch will be served o­n board amidst spectacular views of the bay. You will visit o­ne of the largest caves in Halong Bay and perhaps at a beach stop take a dip or swim in the water of South China Sea.
Enjoy a fresh seafood dinner o­n board.
Overnight o­n junk.

Day 5 - Halong - Hanoi
Participate in Tai Chi o­n the top deck or simply watch the sunrise over the magnificent bay. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or juice before setting out to the near- by cave by row boat. Watch for monkeys high o­n the cliff tops. Return back to the junk, where breakfast is served, while sailing around Bay Tu Long bay where the movie “Indochine” was filmed.
Your cruise will end at noon and you will be met by your guide & driver for the trip back to Hanoi. There is a short stop en-route to visit But Thap, Vietnam’s oldest Pagoda built in the 13th century.
After arrival to your hotel, you may do more sightseeing, catch up o­n your shopping or simply relax the rest of the day.

Day 6 - Hanoi - Nha Trang
Early risers may enjoy a stroll along the picturesque Hoa Kiem Lake, where each morning around 6 am, groups of locals do exercises along the lovely tree lined promenade. o­n the northern end of the lake, the red bridge will lead you to the Ngoc Son Temple and the Tortoise Tower o­n a small island.
Check out of the hotel, have lunch. Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Nha Trang at 1:20pm. You will be met by your guide for the hotel transfer.
Nha Trang has o­ne of the most popular beaches in all of Vietnam, with clear turquoise water and a backdrop of mountains. The coconut palms provide shelter along most of the 6 km beachfront.
Enjoy your free time at your beach front resort.

Day 7 - Nha Trang
You may want to discover this small and compact town o­n your own.
Among the sights to see are Long Son Pagoda, Po Nagar Cham towers and Hon Chong Promontory, the Oceanographic Institute and perhaps have lunch at the near by Bao Dai’s villa, which has brilliant views of the bay.
Relax and enjoy more beach time before departing this afternoon at 4:45 pm for the o­ne hour flight to Saigon.
Another popular option is to take an all day diving or snorkeling boat tour. Just make sure that you will get back o­n time for the airport departure as your flight is the last o­ne of the day to Saigon.
You will be met by your guide for the transfer to your hotel.

Day 8 - Saigon
You will explore this cosmopolitan city o­n a guided tour. High lights are the famed Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Reunification Palace, Municipal Theater, Ben Thanh Market, Cho Lon and a Buddhist Temple.
The rest of the day will be free.

Day 9 - Saigon - Cu Chi - Tay Ninh
Depart this morning for the Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of underground tunnels begun in 1948 by the Viet Minh in their struggle against the French. These tunnels were expanded and used by the Viet Cong during the war between Vietnam and America. American called this area the “Iron Triangle” and was a Viet Cong strong hold for almost thirty years. You may walk underground in the tunnels.
From here you will continue o­n to see the Cao Dai Temple inTay Ninh, where each day at noon a prayer service is held. It is a striking structure o­n a very large compound. The term Cao Dai (meaning higher place) is a euphemism for God.
Caodaism was found in the 1920’s by Ngo Minh Chieu, using a combination of teaching from Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and other religions into o­ne religion to promote peace.
Have lunch and back to Saigon in the late afternoon.

Day 10 - Saigon - Mekong Delta
A trip to Vietnam wouldn’t be the same without experiencing the life of the Mekong Delta. After the 2 hour car ride, you will travel in a motorized boat, cruising along the river and learn about the daily life o­n the waterways as well as local activities along the river banks. You will be touring a fruit farm, bonsai garden, candy factory, meet with friendly villagers and visit a local family for tea. Return to Saigon this evening.

Day11 - Saigon - USA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight home.
